The highly-addictive site has 322 million monthly active users that are eagerly pinning everything from interiors to hair and beauty ideas. Their end of year round up of the biggest searches illuminates the trends that your clients are looking at. Here are the key Pinterest hair trends from 2019 that the site predicts will be huge for 2020.

Scrunchies Hair Trend

We have spoken at length about the hair accessories trend revival we saw this year and scrunchies are amongst the biggest Pinterest hair trends searched on the site for 2019. The search term was up a huge 6309% this year. We can also look at Gen Z groups like the VSCO girl which draws influence from So Cal, with scrunchies featuring heavily in their aesthetic.

Braided Hairstyles

'Styles like box braids are back in a big way,' says Pinterest as the search term '90s braids hairstyles' is up 329%. This year saw a lot of 1970s, 1980s and 1990s styles and trends revived in time for the new decade and 1990s braids is another to add to the list.

Hair Clips Everywhere

Whether is barrettes, butterfly clips or slides, hair clips were the biggest way clients joined the hair accessories hair trend year. The search term was up 930% on Pinterest this year.

Rise in Gender-Neutral Haircuts
