Wella Professionals announced the winners for the UK & Ireland TrendVision Award 2021 during its live grand final event on Monday 11 October. The event took place at London’s iconic venue, The Roundhouse, with over 700 guests joining the event live and the same amount joining virtually.
TrendVision saw hairdressing industry greats gather together after a challenging 18 months for the industry. Over 600 photographic entries were received in March 2021, which were filtered down to just 90 artists making it to the grand finale.
The final, which was hosted by Fearne Cotton and Wella’s expert artist Patrick Cameron, featured live hair shows, a three-course meal and the awards ceremony – followed by an early hours after-party with DJ Philly.
To accommodate those that couldn’t make the live event, the TrendVision Award was live streamed and hosted by radio presenter Elspeth Pierce.
The four live hair shows were carried out by hairdressing industry legends, all having a common theme of sustainability. This is an ode to Wella’s commitment and vision, with Fearne Cotton describing sustainability as “paramount to Wella.”
Robert Eaton’s ‘Dark into the light’ was a contemporary editorial catwalk show, inspired by light, with strong sustainability and environmental message.
D&J Ambrose show, ‘The Lost City - Orient V Occident’, showcased a mesmerising fusion of colour and texture, combining a nod to grunge with pure, premium colour tones, and couture fashion slaves sporting intense hair colour created using shades from the Koleston Perfect range of permanent hair colour.
HOB Academy presented ‘Lunascape’ - a collection of bespoke looks, encapsulating street and catwalk trends, featuring an array of classic and advanced cut & colours.
Finally, the ghd ‘Jungle’ collection by James Earnshaw and the ghd team unleashed a powerful, raw mix of volume, movement and texture, with exaggerated shapes at their finest.
After a break last year, due to Covid-19, Wella Professionals worked hard to bring back the event in full swing. “We desperately wanted to bring the industry back together for this amazing event, and the commitment of everyone involved has been remarkable. This has been a special night like no other. The standard across all categories has been incredibly high and every finalist should be proud of what they have achieved. Many congratulations to all the winners,” said Allie Hargreaves, Wella’s national education operations and events manager UK & Ireland.
