Keith mellen represents hair industry on sbc advisory board Keith Mellen, co-owner and managing director of Anne Veck, has been announced as the sole representative of the hairdressing industry to sit on the Advisory Board to the Sustainable Beauty Coalition (SBC), a division of the British Beauty Council. Keith is known as a strong advocate for overcoming climate change within the industry, with his salon, Anne Veck Oxford, the first salon in the UK to be certified as carbon neutral since 2019. He is also renowned for his business expertise, recently earning a Business Director of The Year finalist spot alongside Anne Veck at HJ’s upcoming 2021 British Hairdressing Business Awards for their salon, Anne Veck, Oxford.  The SBC was initially launched to tackle the global climate change emergency and consists of a 10-strong panel, as well as the extensive Advisory Board which Keith has been recently introduced into. The SBC reports to the British Beauty Council’s executive board with a view to developing a clear strategy to facilitate sustainability in the industry. These initiatives have included forming beneficial relationships with like minded businesses and working closely with the UK government to form stronger frameworks in the beauty sector, especially regarding climate change. On the appointment, Keith commented: “Surveys have shown that 95% of consumers believe that their actions can help make a difference to the planet. It is the duty of the SBC, together with the British Beauty Council, to create clearer policies for the industry and to be transparent in the action we are taking in the Race to Net Zero.” He continued: “I am proud to be involved in such an important movement and hope that our message will encourage other hairdressing businesses to look at the ways they can make a difference.”
