Top five party hairstyles

'Tis the season to party, party, party! No outfit is complete without the right hairstyle. So what should you opt for? Here's my top five party solutions:

1 It doesn't matter what length your hair, dress it up with decorations and accessories. Emily Watson jazzed up her crop with a simple, sparkling tiara. It gave it a feminine edge without dominating the look.

Updos are a festive favourite but make sure you look like a celebrity and not an harrassed housewife with dishevelled ends and smooth roots.

A healthy-looking, shiny mane will turn more heads than a OTT creation, and looks fabulous on long, and especially short, layers. The Saturdays Frankie shows how its done - and matched with an under-stated hue, will guarantee to rule parties this festive season.

5 Sweep long layers over one shoulder for an asymmetric feeling. With one shoulder dresses continuing to be popular, there's no better way to show off glowing skin than an asymmetric style. Taylor Swift's gorgeous curls frame her face but look feminine and rapunzel-like dressed over one shoulder.
