Check out our guide to the must enter events of the year. HJ’s British Hairdressing Awards Sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional Who can enter? Qualified hairdressers who have been working in the UK for a minimum of three years with the exception of HJ’s Newcomer of the Year where entrants should be aged 25 years and under, with a regular column in the salon. How to enter? Pick one of the 15 categories to enter and submit four photographs shot within the last 12 months. Each category has specific requirements but images must translate current trends in a creative and inspirational way. What’s the prize? Under a brief of ‘hair inspired by fashion’ entrants are to submit a photograph taken within the last year of a colour look they find inspirational. Successful entrants will gain a place in one of the seven regional finals across the country where models will be presented to a panel of judges. Winners of the regional finals will then recreate their look at the Grand Final in London. What’s the prize? There are four award categories each with individual prizes; the main prize winners will get the opportunity to receive a year long programme of education, creative and business opportunities. Submit a photo of a look inspired by the two Wella trends for 2016; Modern Ecaille or Bronde Luxe. Finalists will then be invited to regional heats before the UK and Ireland final in London. Winners are then invited to the international final. What’s the prize? There are two categories; Young Talent for stylists aged 30 and under and Color, which is open to qualified hairdressers of any age. Both prizes include amazing PR opportunities and the chance to work and be mentored by some of the best names in the industry, a personalised training programme and the chance to get involved with Wella Professionals shows and exhibitions. Choose out of the three competition categories; Global Creative Colorist, Global New Talent Colorist and Global Partner Colorist and submit an image interpreting the Goldwell D!srupt collection. What’s the prize? The UK winners will be invited to compete at the International Live Competition at Global Color Zoom in Stockholm in October 2016. Alternative Hair Show International Legendary Award Who can enter? Anyone How to enter? Entrants need to supply an image along with 50 words explaining the inspiration behind the image. There is a small fee to enter which is donated to the Alternative Hair Charitable Foundation, ‘Fighting Leukaemia’. What’s the prize? 25 finalists are chosen to present a model at the Alternative Hair Show at The Royal Albert Hall in London. Where can I find out more? Visit www.alternativehair.org or email [email protected] The FHA UK Freelance Awards Who can enter? Any freelance, mobile or self employed hairdressers and beauty therapists. How to Enter? There are seven categories: Ladies Stylist, Men’s Stylist, Make Up Artist, Avant Garde Stylist, Prom and Party Hair Stylist and Bridal Stylist of the Year. Choose your category and send a 10”x 8” photo of your work. You don’t need to worry about doing an expensive photo-shoot as work is judged on content not photography skills but, photographs must be good quality/high definition prints. Entrants must choose between two trends as forecasted by Paul Mitchell to create a look and submit a before and after picture. What’s the prize? There are five runners up prizes, three finalist prizes and a grand prize winner. All prizes include PR coverage, a certificate as well as Paul Mitchell goodies. Where can I find out more?
