How to create a textured updo with stylers

The ghd Midnight Collection is twelve professional looks all inspired by the Autumn/Winter 2010 catwalk shows and created using the new ghd Gold Classic styler.

Here is how you can create a textured updo with fishtail plait using your stylers.

Step OneStep Two
Step One: Take a radial parting from the crown to the temples, a second parting from the crown to ears and clip away the front sections.Step Two: Starting at the nape, take a 2cm deep horizontal section, then take a 2cm square sub-section, place the ghd styler horizontally at the root with your thumb on top, rotate 180 degrees away from the head and slowly glide the iron 45 degrees from roots to ends. Wrap the curl back towards the head and secure with a clip. Continue working upwards in horizontal sections using a brick-wind technique to complete the back section. This will prevent any unwanted partings.
Step ThreeStep Four
Step Three: Starting from the front right side, take a diagonal 2cm section above the ear, then a 2cm square sub-section. Place the styler at a 45 degree angle with your thumb facing away from the face, rotate 180 degrees and slowly glide from roots to ends. Wrap the curl back towards the head and secure. Continue working upwards towards the orbital section, using a brick-wind technique. Repeat on the other side.Step Four: Working on the orbital section, starting at the crown take a 2cm deep horizontal section and 2cm square sub-section. Place the styler at the root with your thumb forward towards the face, rotate 180 degrees and slowly glide at 90 degrees from the roots to the ends. Continue to complete the section.
Step FiveStep Six
Step Five: Repeat to complete the orbital section using a brick-wind technique to complete the preparation.Step Six: Take a diagonal parting from front to crown, then take a vertical parting from crown to behind the ear. Clip the front two sections away.
Step SevenStep Eight
Step Seven: On the back section, starting from the crown take a triangular section about 2cm deep and make a three-stem plait. Secure the plait with elastic, coil the plait up to the crown and secure with a pin.Step Eight: Split the remainder of the back section and create a fishtail plait. Start the fishtail at the nape, then once you have completed half the plait, take a pre-prepared fishtail weft of hair and secure at the crown with a pin. Secure the ends of both plaits with elastic.
Step NineStep Ten
Step Nine: Starting on the right hand side, brush the side panel up towards the top, retaining the wave definition, twist into a semi-cone shape and secure with a pin. Take the plaited hair weft, wrap around the brushed section and secure. This will add support and become an integral part of the finished look.Step Ten: Starting on the left panel, take the section, lift and lightly backbrush up towards the top. This will add more volume to the side. Brush through the ends and start to twist and fold the hair, retaining the definition of the shape created by the irons. Secure at the crown with a pin.
Step ElevenStep Twelve
Step Eleven: Return to the original fishtail plait, separating the plait to add texture, fold the plait in half, checking the shape, and fix the ends to the base of the plait with a pin.Step Twelve: Return to the front right panel and personalise by sculpting that section into defined waves and curls using a tail comb and fingers for a soft, high gloss finish.
