Help needed, renting a chair!

Hi,

I have been working at the same salon since i began my training 6 years ago. When i first qualified i was employed on min wage.  3 years ago they made me self employed, I paid them £100 per week then i got a % of my takings. Since then every few months they put up the rents.

I had a meeting with them on Friday to say they were increasing my rent again.

As an example...

I made £270 for the shop.

They then took off the 'overheads' which are: junior, gas, elec, water etc.  totaling £74

There was then £196 left over. this was split 50/50 giving me a wage of £98.00 and giving them £172.00

I think the shop is struggling but i can't continue earning this sort of money.  The girl i work with qualified in July and is on exactly the same commission scale as me and she will get paid a whopping 14PENCE!!!!! this week!

We really don't know what to do about it anymore but neither of us can survive on this kind of money.  Can you give me some advice or tell me what you think is a reasonable amount of rent to be paying.

Thanks x
