HJ's 2010 Newcomer of the Year, Dan Spiller, worked with Wella Professionals global creative director Eugene Souleiman for two high-profile shows at Paris Fashion Week.

Dan, who was also awarded Young Talent Gold Winner at Wella Professionals Trend Vision 2010 said: "Getting to work with Eugene was a complete honour and one of the most exciting things that has happened in my career. It was an amazing experience and his team was so inspiring to work with"

The first show Dan assisted with was Haider Ackermann, where the look was dubbed 'rebel with a trust fund'.

Inspired by a rich young woman travelling the world, the look is chic, dishevelled and slightly boyish.

Eugene said: "I was thinking about a young aristocratic boy who parties a little too hard, and wanted to transfer this look to a beautiful young woman to create a slightly androgynous hairstyle."

"The key to this style is an illusion of short hair, with a textured 'foppish' top. I love the idea of imperfection and wanted the hair to look as if the girl had been partying all night and the roots of her hair were a little unwashed and sweaty, in contrast to the perfectly sleek underneath section."

The second show which Dan assisted Eugene on was Issey Miyake, where the look was inspired by nature - specifically the vibrant colours found in flowers and the organic shapes of plants.

"It's about flowers but not florals", said Eugene. "I wanted the hair to look like the bulb of a tulip - a look that was elegant but in a contemporary way and a shape that was both graphic and soft."

"The addition of spray colour allowed me to bring to life the vibrancy of nature with vivid colours that fade and graduate; exactly as they would appear in the natural world", said Eugene.

Following the shows, Dan said: "The feeling backstage at both shows was intense and it was such a buzz to see the looks come together."

"It was great to work on two hair looks that were so different from the cool, androgynous and slightly imperfect look at Haider Ackermann to the striking extended head shapes inspired by tulips at Issey Miyake. I am still buzzing from my Paris Fashion Week experience and can't wait until next season comes around"
