Costume institute gala 2011: crops rock ginnifer-goodwin-michelle-williams.jpg
While most stars at the Costume Institute Gala 2011 wore their hair long, loose and flowing or crafted in to a chic updo, two stars bucked the trend with cute crops.

Both Ginnifer Godwin and Michelle Williams kept things simple with textured pixie crops, proving that short and sweet is a red hot red carpet look.

Ginnifer styled her brunette cut in to a choppy layered style with soft texture all over and an effortlessly teased fringe, while Michelle's look had a slightly 1960s feel with simple styling and a gorgeous baby blonde hue.

Gary and Michael of Hooker & Young say: "Michelle's crop is very Emma Watson, but sadly not as striking. Great cut but pixie crops work best on tiny faces with striking features. Not really loving this."

Warren Holmes of Nicky Clarke says: "Ginnifer seems to have gone shorter and shorter. This pixie-style tailored haircut works in so many different ways, if worn as she did at the Met Ball a little edgier and fierce then her clothes ultimately need to work with that and be quite aggressive. I like it, she pulls it off."
