Alternative Hair has been awarded charitable trust status, founder and director Tony Rizzo has announced.

Now in its 30th year, the much-loved annual event has raised over £8.5 million for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research thanks to its spectacular hairdressing shows and the generosity of those involved.

Linking charity with creativity, the Alternative Hair Show was launched by Tony to commemorate his young son, Valentino, who lost his life to leukaemia in 1983. A one-off charity show was arranged to raise funds but the immediate popularity of the event quickly led to it becoming a yearly event.

This year's event has the theme of Legends, and as well including a special tribute to the late, great Vidal Sassoon the show will also host the AIPP Awards Winners' Presentation - as well as shows from some of the world's most creative hairdressingtalent.

The 2012 Alternative Hair Show will be held on Sunday 14 October at the Royal Albert Hall - for more information call 020 7242 3040 or visit www.alternativehair.org
