2012 mtv video music awards: rihanna goes short

We're used to seeing Rihanna change her look pretty regularly and for the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards, it wasn't a colour change but a new cut which got everyone talking.

Showing off a short layered pixie crop and sweeping fringe, this is the first time we've seen Rihanna with short hair since her red crop at the 2011 Country Music Awards.

Whether it's the latest in a long line of wigs or an actual haircut, we love seeing what Rihanna does with her hair - although this look does feel a little ageing on the usually edgy star. It'll be interesting to see whether she sticks with a short style during Fashion Week!
