Award season 2015 kicks off this weekend with the Golden Globes. Ahead of the big night, we're reminiscing about the glamorous days gone by with ten vintage Golden Globes hairstyles that we reckon you could still totally get away with today.
Winona Ryder, 1994
Then: Winona's elfin crop is a timeless classic - and worn with a little black dress and pearls, really harks back to an Audrey Hepburn look.
Now: There's not much we'd change about this look to wear it today. A high-shine wax and clean side parting would make for a sharp, sleek, update.
Kate Hudson, 2001
Then: There's a real 70s feeel about this golden look - from the glittering gown to the shimmering highlights. Hair is blow-dried away from the face in big, bouncy curls for a look that echoes Charlie's Angels and vintage California.
Now: A bit more body, brushed-out curls and a cool matte finish would give this look even more wow factor.
Marilyn Monroe, 1960
Then: Marilyn's usual curls are switched for a smooth blow-dry with plenty of volume. A sweeping side fringe covering one eye makes this look typically sultry.
Now: We'd wear this look as is for a pure 60s vibe - although seeing it in a pastel hue would give it a cool 2015 twist.
Sarah Jessica Parker, 2003
Then: Sarah's high, bouncy ponytail secured with a black grosgrain ribbon is a timeless classic - although we're not sure about the makeup.
Now: We'd wear this look as is, although a jumbo bow would lend the style a modern upgrade. No need to be shy - the bigger the better with accessories.
Halle Berry, 2000
Then: Halle Berry has never looked better than with this cool crop back at the start of the 2000s. We love the soft, textured volume and sweeping fringe.
Now: This timeless cut works just as well today as it did back then, although a matte texture paste could be worked to create an even more mussed-up look for a real bedhead feel.
Natalie Wood, 1966
Then: This swinging 60s bob is gorgeously glossy, thick and healthy with plenty of body - blow-dried to perfection. Everything Sassoon said a cut should be!
Now: Healthy hair with just a great cut, natural colour and no styling product is a huge trend for 2015. This look proves that a perfect, professional cut is, sometimes, all you need.
Sienna Miller, 2007
Then: Sienna was one of the first celebrities to take the milkmaid braid from schoolground to starlet. This thick plait roped around the hairline was the perfect pairing to her glitzy gown, dressing it down and giving it an injection of trademark bohemian cooll.
Now: Now? Well, this hairstyle's everywhere. Plaits and braids have become a red carpet standard, worn either mussed up and packed full of texture or sleek and graphic.
Drew Barrymore, 2009
Then: This supersized blow-dry was harking back to retro style but felt surprisingly fresh amongst a host of glossy blow-dries and smooth waves. Matte, fluffy texture was a catwalk favourite at the time and we love Drew for making it work on the red carpet too.
Now: This look is classic Hollwood - teasing it into a beehive or chignon would make for a fun look on a younger starlet today too.
Scarlett Johansson, 2011
Then: This gravity defying look combined Scarlett's beloved old-Hollywood style with something slightly more dramatic and dynamic. Although the oversized silhouette has a slightly kitsch feel, the clip helps the look remain the right side of retro.
Now: We'd love to see this look worn with on-trend dual texture. Slicked back away from the face and worn tight on the sides with a wet look and a fluffier, drier texture through the length would give this look the edge.
Julia Roberts, 1989
Then: In the days before Frizz Ease, Julia's jumbo curls were as big as her personality. This carefree looks contrasts starkly with her - questionable - choice of men's suit.
Now: We love Julia's big bouncy curls. Throw in a bit of texture powder and you'd have a well and truly wild mane.
