Gok Wan came into the Errol Douglas salon for a complete re-style and is now sporting a short-sided, longer on top look fit for a fashionista.

"Gok saw one of the images I'd done for a men's shoot and loved it," says Jamie. I took his extensions out and gave him a restyle previously, and he was ready for a complete new look for the new season this time round.

When it comes to celebrity status, the Big Brother 'stars' certainly demand plenty of column inches; but when it comes to celebrity style they're not quite so adept.

If they're not showing a little more flesh than we need to see, there's too much bling or another fashion faux pas raising eyebrows.

And as for the hair... well there are more hair extensions than in the family enclosure at an England match!

We asked a few leading hairdressers to cast their eye over some of the housemates who have managed to survive the celebrity status test of time; and it's fair to say there weren't to many complimentary comments going round.

Fortunately, they did have plenty of suggestions for how their hair styles could be improved, so if you're listening Chantelle and Co...

She has extremely fine hair that she colours regularly.

That, coupled with continuous wear and tear with extensions, doesn't bode well for happy hair.

I'd love to see her with a shorter hairstyle. Aisleyne has long-blonde-hair syndrome and it would take a bit of persuasion to change, but I know she'd absolutely love it if she chopped it off." Leonardo Rizzo, Sanrizz, Guildford, Surrey

The longer length is flattering and elongates her round face.

Easy to maintain, this style is all about natural movement. This means minimal blow-drying, simply finished with a pair of tongs.

Making the fringe heavier and taking it further over to the side will make it more of a feature and frame her face." Darren Bain, hob salons, Camden, London

But the hair extensions are too long - the whole cut needs to be shorter.

I know she likes to be blonde but she needs to be more obvious with honey and butter tones. Kate seems to suit her hair either very long or very short - this length is too in-between.

I'd like to take her super short with a cute elfin crop and then go for a brilliant blonde, or the complete opposite and take her brown." Mark Woolley, Electric Hairdressing, Brighton, Sussex

When I cut her hair short, although it looked amazing, she instantly wanted extensions again.

She should go for something far more sophisticated and modern - think Gwyneth Paltrow's bob style - so she has subtle long hair. Somehow, I don't think she will!" Richard Ward, Richard Ward Hair & Metrospa, London

With signature features of sharp, on-trend disconnected bobs offset by softened interiors and long disconnected cuts with visor inspired fringes the NEO Collection has a strong commercial feel, which proved a massive hit with the 300-strong audience.

The collection was enhanced by an array of dramatic colours including bold coppers, inky blacks, cinnamon and icy blonde shades that showcased Revlon Professional's conditioning colours and offered ideas that could easily be translated to the salon.

The inspirational night concluded with a fast paced Grand Finale, with the Ramsay and Johnson team presenting dramatically masked models with oversized wigs giving a quirky ending to a superb event.

Celebrating 60 years of Goldwell and KMS California's Hollywood Glamour campaign, it really was glamour all the way from the champagne that was sipped, to the luxurious canapés and the hairdressing stars' hair masterclass.

On the stage, the Goldwell Ambassadors produced looks relating to the current Trend Zoom trends for 2008 from Goldwell, choosing from Newstalgia (1920's inspired) and Rockmantic (Rock-chic inspired).
Paul created a sexy, soft and feminine Newstalgia inspired bob, with a gorgeous apricot blonde colour to complement it perfectly.

In contrast, Mo Nabbach created a Rockmantic textured crop on his model, using clever colouring to make the hair look like fur - truly Rock & Roll!

And the Rush guys certainly didn't disappoint with their fusion of the two trends, soft colour from Newstalgia and a futuristic disconnected cut with some Rockmantic attitude!

Mark Leeson worked the Newstalgia trend with a heavenly 'hat-inspired; creation using textured blonde curls to mimic a cotton candy effect.

To continue the Newstalgia theme, Shane created a super-chic look to put any 1920's sliver screen goddess to shame, with glossy curls and feathery hairpieces piled up for luxury texture.

Michael Barnes fused together Rockmantic and added some oriental inspiration for his model's funky hair, which was cute yet rebellious - a great interpretation of the trend. Lisa Whiteman also went all Rockmantic with big texture, lots of hair attitude and stunning colour, as she explained the importance of building your colour business in the salon.

Tequila received the award from industry icon Patrick Cameron and habia CEO Alan Goldsbro at a glitzy awards ceremony held at L'Oréal Studios, London having beaten off 26 other entrants from the Young Apprenticeship Partnerships.

The event featured inspirational hair shows from the Habia Hairdressing Skills Team's Emma Moore and Mark Izzard, as well as Patrick Cameron, who also took part in the judging process.

Patrick spoke of the success of the Young Apprenticeship programme which is designed to give bright and motivated 14-16 year olds the chance to learn about the industries they are interested in, gain work experience and develop vocational skills on top of their GCSEs.

He said: "I have been wowed yet again by the standard of entry to this competition from individuals who are just 14 to 15 years old.

"It is fantastic that they have been able to realise they possess such potential in this field through this competition and the Young Apprenticeship programme."

The competition, supported by L 'Oréal Professionnel and Wahl, allows Young Apprentices to demonstrate their new hairdressing skills by submitting images of their finished long hair look on a head block, along with a mood board and statement describing the look they have created and their inspiration.

Winner Tequila said: "I was really excited and pleased to win the award, I didn't think I would win as the competition was so fierce. It was a fantastic night and everyone was really proud. It was great to go to the L'Oréal Studio and dress up.

The chance to see the stylists and Patrick Cameron and to help him on stage is something I will always remember."

"I enjoy learning about styling hair and working in a real salon. I like being out of school doing something I love. In the future I want to work for Patrick Cameron or as a top stylist. I would like to do the hair of musicians, especially rap artists, and meet Nelly who inspired my mood board."

The two joint runners up, Frances Parkinson of Weston College and Kelley Lawrie of Rochdale Partnership, will also appear on the stage at Salon International.

"NHF Inspire has a new direction for 2008 and this event allowed the stylists to share our focus for the forthcoming year."

Errol, UK Ambassador for Matrix Biolage, was over as part of an education drive and put on a Matrix seminar as well as his show for the prestigious gala dinner.

Attended by 1800 of the country's hairdressing elite, the fantastic presentation was themed around 'Defiance' and featured strong styles and avant garde work.

While in Australia, Errol was interviewed for the likes of Marie Claire, Elle, The Telegraph and more, and his shoots included the fabulous editorial for Culture magazine.

Errol said: "The gala dinner was a real thrill to do - what a highlight to present to all the top Australian industry leaders and hairdressers.

"I produced some very conflicting textures and haircuts for the seminar and with an hour and a half to present eight models was able to take my time, break down the looks and make the styles and techniques really accessible."
