Michael Van Clarke Reveals Full Cost of Taxes

Posted by Matthew
Dated: June 11, 2009 2:12 PM

Michael van Clarke.jpgIn order to draw attention to the amount of tax clients actually pay, Michael Van Clarke, has started issuing all customers with a full tax receipt, providing a true insight into their salon bills, and the near 50% which goes straight to the government.

According to Michael, on an average bill of £374, over £97 goes towards staff national insurance and income taxes, more than £48 makes up VAT, and almost £33 is given over to business insurance tax, climate levy tax and even landfill tax, adding up to £178 worth of tax.

Said Michael: "After several weeks of offering the tax receipts, feedback from clients has been amazing. Even after the government has taxed our salaries up to 40%, as consumers we're still subject to more taxes - almost half of our spendable earnings. Effectively, for every £4 we earn we're rewarded with a value of £1 spending power, the rest goes to government. It's a scandalous situation, and we hope our full tax receipts will go some way to highlighting the state of affairs."

In light of the tax revelations, Michael Van Clarke is urging other retailers to follow suit by also offering full tax receipts to their customers.

Said Michael: "By educating the public of their full tax implications, it is hoped that the resulting pressure will shame the government into justifying the extent of their public rip-off tactics."
