The L'Oréal Professionnel Colour Trophy 2009 climaxed with its Grand Final at Earls Court 2 on June 1.

Hosted by Strcitly Come Dancing star Gethin Jones, it was celebration of everything that is great about UK hairdressing and guests were entertained by fantastic hair shows from the art teams at Charlie Miller and Haringtons.

The events culminated in the announcement of the winners of this year's Colour Trophy, Men's Image Award, Young Colourist and the inaugural Mizani Afro Catwalk Look Award.

With 42 excited finalists all hoping to be announced the winner of their category, it made for an electric atmosphere at Earls Court 2. Other guests included leading names in British Hairdressing, including past British Hairdresser of the Year Andrew Barton, Angelo Seminara, Charles Worthington and Trevor Sorbie.

The Shows

Charlie-Miller-show.jpgJason and India Miller for Charlie Miller kicked off the evening with their Theatre Luxe presentation. Set in a Victorian theatre set, the show was inspired by French image maker Jean-Paul Gaude and fashion designer Alexander McQueen, and featured an eclectic mix of boundary-pushing shapes. Muted pink was a key shade at the couture styles played with textures from soft candy floss-esque shapes to feathers and woven shapes.

Haringtons-pic.jpg'To Which Reign Do I Belong?' was the title of Harington's Show, which also had a theatrical theme. Inspired by the Lord of the Rings with more than an element of Tim Burton, the show began with a model with a icy blonde bob being sprayed with body graffiti.  As the theatre played out there was a combination of strong voluminous shapes, spider web-style creations and intricate coils.
