Just like the rest of us, celebrities have good hair days, bad hair days and complete shockers. And it seems that most of their hair horrors seem to have happened on the GQ Man Award Red Carpet this fortnight.

But do you think we've got the wrong end of the stick? Are we misunderstanding Lily Allen's pin curls or is Saffron Aldridge's hair just a simple understated look?

On the other hand if you think Kylie Minogue's new long locks her just a bit mousy and non descript? Let us know on the MyHJi forums, plus join the debate about whether great celebrity hair is subjective?

Hairdressing Lessons I Learned in Asia - Andrew Barton

Andrew Barton 100.JPG
It's great to be back in the Britain after a couple of weeks touring Asia - even if all the clients I saw last Friday had to leave the salon in the pouring rain and have their beautifully coiffed hair ruined by the conditions.

As much as I'm glad to be back, it was a really lovely trip as the people are so gentle and positive and I really enjoyed the food!

That said, I was completely exhausted because I took in seven countries in just under three weeks and I must admit that by the end I didn't know where the hell I was! - it was just a continuous cycle of shows, seminars, press hair appointments and photo shoots.

Remember last year when Steve Strange nearly cut off a client's ear and a whole host of celebrities demonstrated that hairdressing really is a 'do not try this at home' profession? Well, Celebrity Scissorhands is coming back for a third series.

Once again, Lee Stafford will be at the helm, teaching a bunch of stars from the world of showbusiness how to cut hair; and once again clients will pay for the 'privilege' of having their hair cut by a complete novice.

Raising money for BBC Children in Need, Celebrity Scissorhands will take place in October and November and they are currently looking for anyone brave enough to allow a celebrity to cut and style their hair on television.

If you're keen, just fill in the application form and be prepared to pay whatever you think the cut is worth.

Who ever thought that Nancy Dell Olio would find her face on the right end of the celebrity hair-o-meter or that Paris Hilton could get it so wrong, hmmm scrap that thought!

Anyhow we don't know who or what might have brought hair back into the nation's mindset(!), but the celebrity world has certainly upped its game with great hair on display at every bash going.

In a first, we found ourselves scraping the barrel for celebs who should sack their stylists - although we came up trumps in the end.

But do you agree with are views? Has Paris pulled off the Little Mermaid look? Is Dita's style looking dated? Have your say on the MyHJi forums.

All go for autumn - Andrew Barton's Diary

Dated: September 18, 2008 3:26 PM

Dated: September 18, 2008 3:26 PM

It's been a busy couple of weeks for me. Last week I was involved in a magazine shoot every day. It sounds very glamorous, but you're actually in a dark studio being blinded by flashlights all day. I often get really bad headaches.

I do a photo shoot most weeks, but September is always busy as magazines catch up after the summer holiday season.

Today I was doing a shoot with Harpers Bazaar. The beauty editor is an old friend of mine and asked me to do the hair for the shoot which was looking at hair trends for the season ahead. The unusual element of the shoot was that she modelled for it!

Earlier this week I was asked to present an award at the Prima High Street Fashion Awards. I presented the trophy for Best High Street Evening Wear. I had a great night. It's good to meet new people.

My most exciting news is that I have been signed up for the next series of 10 Years Younger. This is fantastic news, as I know it was a much sought after slot. I'm thrilled and will be celebrating with some champagne later.

Suzanne-and-John-Paul.jpg
Imagine if you entered your first ever hairdressing competition and as a result found yourself swanning around Las Vegas watching Robert Cromeans in action and getting up close to John Paul Dejoria, founder and co-owner of Paul Mitchell Systems.

Blush-grab.jpgBlush exploded onto the fashion seen with a spectacular "Be Beautiful" event to show their clients the key hair colours and styles for Autumn & Winter 08.

The aim of the evening was to enthral clients with the new season trends and each look on the catwalk was a living, visual image of Blush's vision for the coming season.

Looks on the catwalk included soft rounded shapes with adaptable wearable looks and a complementary colour pallet of natural shades.

As well as an opportunity to demonstrate their latest work, the evening also raised and impressive £1033.00 for the Noah's Ark Appeal, which go towards the Children's Hospital for Wales.

Salon owner Victoria Thomas says: "I never dreamt there would be so much interest, I am still pinching my self, and to raise money for a charity close to my heart made the event that more special and worthwhile."

But if you think we've highlighted a celebrity hair horror or done a disservice to a great hairstyle don't forget you can chat about it on the MyHJi hairdressing forum.
