The Retro

"This look is easily achievable on Afro hair. Simply apply a semi-permanent colour for a high-gloss effect and rich tone. To style, use Alterna Thickening Compound to give fullness, pull the hair out in sections with an Afro comb, then diffuse dry and pat it back to create a rounded shape. Next, using the comb and your fingers, manipulate the hair to secure the circular look and complete with Wella Professionals High Hair Finishing Spray to add shine and perfect hold."

  • Blinding Shine Serum (£8.99) from osmo essence is the perfect finish to control frizz while adding shine.

  • Alterna Life Solutions Curls Shape Activator (£22.75) applied to damp hair eliminates frizz and gives style definition.
  • K-PAK Protective medium-hold hairspray (£10.95) provides ultimate protection while delivering flexible styling, healthy body, volume and all-day control.
  • Hair Gum (£10.95) extreme-hold gel offers a vice-like grip on short hair with strong film formers, which provide lasting support. An innovative water-soluble formulation means there is no residue.
