Today we received a statement from the National Hairdressers' Federation confirming that Keith Broughton - 'star' of last week's BBC 2 documentary Hair Wars - has resigned his position as leader of Team GB. Here's the NHF's statement in full:
"Having earlier in the week apologised and tendered his resignation to the President it was with regret that the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the NHF on Sunday 29th April resolved that this should be accepted with immediate effect.
Michael Thornhill, the President said "This has been a very difficult decision as we all know the passion and flair Keith brought to the Team in its efforts to win. We all need time to reflect on the lessons learned and to set standards for representing our country and profession in which we can all be proud." He went on "Keith is a highly regarded member of our competition squad and will continue in his role as an International Judge. We wish him all success in the future"
The NEC further resolved that Michael Thornhill should act as caretaker manager whilst a new manager is sought to ensure that Team GB is ready to take Golds in the competitions running up to and at the World Championships in Chicago next year. Michael said "We have an excellent team, something Keith can be proud of and we will be building on his good work to achieve the success the team deserve"

as someone who is familier with the great britain squad i feel that since keith broughton has resigned the team sprit has deflated there is no man or woman who could manage the team and motivate the team like mr broughton did it is a shambles without him and wothout his knowledge no one has a clue how to run the show. as the saying goes you dont know what you have untill you loose it and the team will suffer for the "NCE" loosing there team manger by not suporting him . i think the nhf are a very contrived organisation who live in the dark ages and need to move on with the times. i think that we can all say the "hair wars" program was not the best way to be shown to the world but people need to wakeup its television when does anything come across positive on the television a story allways comes from nothing at the end of the day they want ed the viewing rate high so they needed to exploit some one unfortunatly surely the british public would be well known to this point by now.. i think it is a terrible shame that it made a man have to give up something he loves and was clearly very talented at. I think the lesson lurnt was that at any point any person who you think is a friend is ready to knock you down when an opertunity arises. this is the twentyfirst century why dont we all start thinking like we are in the twenty first centry maybe then the squad and the NHF would actually be respected a hell of a lot more I think the old school need to move over for the new school to make some positive changes to an organisation that is desperate for help and in desperate need of a new agender. it has been many months now since the programme i think its time we cut people some slack and see them for what they actually are and what they have acheived and helpd other people to acheive not we they have been portrayed to be. they deserve a little respect for the time and effort they put in by their own free will i think we all forget that what ever position you are on the team you do not get paid what so ever in fact it costs yourself money so the NHF want to be more gratefull they have people like Keith Broughton who stand by them through thick and thin and need to lurn to give in return rather than taking
