history repeating

I've just been down to our archive library, which holds every HJ published since we began in 1882 and it's amazing to see that history really does repeat itself. It looks like training was a hot topic of debate in the sixties, with cries for improved training for youngsters -- a debate that continues to rage on today. Wigs were the main accessory to transform a look, much like extensions are 40 years later. It's fascinating to look back at history and see how the industry has evolved -- and it's amazing how much we can learn. ruthx

Congratualtions to you all at HJI, I think the online version of HJ is great, and I avidly log in every day to see what is happening and what's been posted. This post about training resonates with me (and I am sure lots of other readers). Hairdressers understand the significance of training, and it would be great to see some of the old materials posted on this site, or featured in HJ! We all know that 'nothing is new', but looking back at colour / perm / cut techniques from your extensive back catalogue could prove to be a real inspiration to everyone... and let us all see just how much we have evolved over the past few decades.
