Andrew Barton Opens his First Salon
December 2, 2009 10:33 AM
It's been a busy few weeks for Andrew Barton, who is very excited to finally open his very first Andrew Barton salon in Covent Garden and has thrown his weight behind the Hairdressing Council's campaign for state registration for hairdressers.
"So after all the hard work, the planning, the late nights and, dare I admit it, the odd tear, the first ever Andrew Barton salon has officially opened in Covent Garden - and I can't tell you how proud I feel!
"I worked really closely with Caulder Moore, my interior design agency, because I wanted the salon to feel a bit like having your hair cut in my own front room and that's exactly what we've achieved.
"They've worked with the same palette of greys I have in my own house and we've created a salon that feels elegant and glamorous, but not intimidating - a bit like me!
"There's a party-season-themed front window that looks fantastic and it's certainly catching people's eyes as they walk past. I've even had a couple of people stop in to ask where I got the wallpaper from so we've definitely got something right.
"One of the exciting things about having my own salon is that it has enabled me to go back to the shop floor for two days a week and see more clients, which I absolutely love, but, as usual, I've still got plenty of other projects going on.
"My electrical range is set to double in the coming months and there are exciting things in the pipeline for my Shiny Happy New Hair range, plus I have just started a new role as an expert on Angela and Friends on Sky One.
"Angela and Friends is something new and a bit different for me because I have to express opinions on all things celebrity, fashion and current affairs, but it's a whole lot of fun working with Angela and the other friends and I'm loving every minute of it.
"I've also done my first interview as the new Ambassador for the Hairdressing Council, for the BBC, . I feel so strongly about state registration and am determined to make as many people as possible aware of the subject and do the right thing. If you are a hairdresser reading this and you are not state registered I have two words for you: GET REGISTERED!
"All in all I'm having a fantastic time right now. I'm enjoying what I am doing and using my profile to show what opportunities a career in the hair industry can offer. I'm always moving from one thing to the next but it keeps me mentally and professionally challenged and that keeps me happy."
