How do you bring the cool ambience of New York to a night club in Shoreditch? Hold Redken Tribe 2010 there, of course.
The Troxy on Commercial Road was buzzing with a Manhattan vibe as hundreds of hairdressers gathered to hear the results of the Redken NYC Hair Awards and watch hair shows by Lee Stafford and Andrew Barton.
Adding to the Big Apple buzz was the Redken Tribe house band, who serenaded the audience with a string of New York-related hits, all performed in a cool Jazz style.
And it wasn't just any Tribe event, this one coincided with Redken's 50th birthday, and everyone attending was in the mood to celebrate!
Helping keep the atmosphere buoyant was presenter Alex Zane. "We're here to celebrate the very best in hairdressing style and innovation," he told the excitable crowd.
Providing examples of this innovation were shows from Lee Stafford and Andrew Barton.
Lee's show combined his trademark geometric cuts with heavily textured looks - all on models dressed to resemble fashion store dummies.
Andrew's presentation began with a stunning display of glamorous up-dos on models dressed in sexy ensembles of fur coats and underwear. Andrew followed this with a more youth-orientated show, with models looking unashamedly grungy, but glamorous.
It was a night that celebrated talent and the close relationship between hair and fashion in true New York style.
The NYC Hair Awards saw three teams of talented hairdressers honoured.
