Sassoon Academy and VTCT Offer Free Courses for Teachers
Sassoon Academy and VTCT have joined forces to offer free CPD Courses for teachers, lecturers and tutors. The aim is to give educators an exclusive wealth of extra knowledge at no cost.
The Sassoon Academy and VTCT partnership combines Sassoon Academy’s reputation as the global leader in hairdressing education with VTCT’s (Vocational Training Charitable Trust) heritage of being the UK’s market-leading specialist-awarding organising for the hairdressing, beauty and complementary therapy sectors.
The Sassoon Senior Creative team will be hosting four live teacher training sessions featuring the “Sassoon Connect Teacher Training Programme” to inspire educators of all experience levels. The first three courses will use Sassoon’s exclusive Look & Learn demonstration methodology during one-hour sessions. The sessions will be held each week over a three-week period beginning on Tuesday 9 March 2021. The programme will culminate in a fourth, three-hour hands-on ‘follow along’ session on Tuesday 3 March.
Mark Hayes, international creative director at Sassoon and member of the VTCT Skills Advisory Board said:
The goal is to connect the Sassoon school with iTEC & VTCT centres by offering complimentary, virtual training that will supplement the existing skills of the iTEC & VTCT teachers. Sassoon has a legacy and philosophy like no other and our newest programme reinforces this pedigree, featuring all of the hallmarks of Sassoon education delivered by the best minds, and hands, in the business.
The ability for continued development and learning is important for any industry, but it is especially important for those who are influencing the next generation of professionals. This programme provides a wonderful opportunity for our educators to gain knowledge from the very best in our industry. We are delighted to partner with Sassoon to offer these free sessions to our dedicated tutors and lecturers after what has been an unprecedented past year.
Sassoon CEO Debbie Webster points out that Vidal Sassoon CBE, once said ‘If someone were to ask me, what’s the number one thing, in essence, that you left behind? It was teaching others so that they could take my work further’. Debbie believes education today is an investment we are making for tomorrow. She said: “To be the best educators we have to stay inspired in order to inspire those we teach. The future of our industry and our students depend on this.”
