Barber backchat: hj men interviews sid sottung HJ Men gets an insight into the life of Andis education ambassador and academy owner Sid Sottung with our new series Barber Backchat. Read the interview to find out what's on Sid's bucket list, his biggest achievement and the last thing he does before bed. Which hair creation are you most proud of? I’ve just done a blond, long cut for Reuzel’s Project X that made me feel really proud. Not only did I love the cut, but the proceeds from the DVD we filmed will go towards helping young people without financial support get into barbering. What product can’t you live without? Captain Fawcett’s Barberism Beard Oil, it’s a kit bag essential. What’s the last thing you do before bed? I give my wife a kiss. What’s your favourite piece of art? I recently had a portrait done by a young artist called Vince Kamp. It’s in an Old Masters style, but with a modern twist. I can’t believe someone has an image of me hanging in their living room now! Who’s your biggest inspiration? Can I say three people?! For hair colour it would be Claire Turner; for styling Creative x-presion Education from Madrid and for cutting it would be Mazella and Palmer for their precision What’s your biggest achievement so far? Getting sober changed my life. I am a recovering alcoholic and have been sober five years. Where would we find you at a party? Chatting about my love of hair and talking business opportunities. What’s on your bucket list? Going fishing in Hawaii – for sharks. If you could trade lives with anyone for a day who would it be? President of the United States – I’d do things a bit differently! If your academy was on fire, what’s the one thing you’d save? My team for sure. And maybe my award for winning Barber Academy of the Year* too… If hairdressing hadn’t worked out what you be doing? I’d either be in jail or working in a factory. This interview is taken from HJ Men magazine, read the full interview in the Summer issue out now. Image Credit: Dan Lord
