What is your biggest achievement?

For me it was winning BHA Men's Hairdresser of the Year in 2009. Following my three wins of Afro Hairdresser of the Year and entry into the Hall of Fame, it was important for me to be recognised as a Caucasian hairdresser.

If you weren't a hairdresser what would you be?

A photographer.

How would your clients describe you?

Social!

Which one style do you wish you had created?

Mary Quant's short haircut as created by Vidal Sassoon.

Who is your style icon?

Vidal Sassoon

Which hairdresser would you most like to work with?

Past is Vidal Sassoon, present is Orlando Pita.

Who cuts your hair?

I don't get it cut!

Favourite part of the job?

I love the variety.

What is your most famous client past or present?

Julia Roberts

Last time you were lost for words?

When my friends little girl named her little black fish Dessie after me!

Which one product couldn't you live without?

Sebastian's Potion 9

Is there anything about the industry that makes you mad?

No, not really - I'm pretty laid back about most things.

What's the biggest gaffe you've made in your career?nbsp;

Being out of my head at last year's British Hairdressing Awards - and then winning it and having to get up on stage... My PR will never let me forget it.

What's the best career advice you've ever been given?

Stick by your style.

Last time you were star-struck?

Never been - I've got lots of mates in the game so I'm not that impressionable!

Time you were most proud to be hairdressing?

Winning the AIPP Award for best photographic collection in 2009 - I'd done the hair and taken the pictures so it was a double whammy....

What celebrity haircut do you wish had never caught on?

Beckham's mullet!

What haircut would you love to make a come-back and how would you re-

invent it for the noughties?

I'd just add texture to Mia Farrow's really fabulous short cut.

Sleek and shiny or messy bed hair?

Depends on the era. I continuously change my mind on this one, so I'd opt for a fabulous little textured hair cut that I could mess up!
