Salon Live at Salon International 2016 saw Toni & Guy present their brand new education collection, Duality to a sold out crowd of 2000 stylists. Taking inspiration from the brands unique relationship with the fashion industry, the Duality cut, colour & styling collection translates key trends from catwalks across the world, turning them into wearable looks to inspire both stylists and clients in salon. Opening with the Label M collection, Catwalk Culture, models paraded down the catwalk sporting a variety of lengths, textures and finishes all with one common theme, character. Having seen the trend of ‘character casting’ backstage at international fashion weeks, stylists enhanced each models natural texture to create individual but wearable looks. The International Artistic Team then presented the Pure Education section where the audience could get up close to exclusive Toni & Guy techniques in cut, colour, men’s & avant garde styling. Kicking off with editorial styling, Art Directors Efi Davis, Sophie Springett and Silje Vincent created a collection of intricate styles featuring The Wick, based on woven wicker, The Helix, a fusion of Georgian and punk influences based on static movement and lastly, The Killick, a mix of ponytails, knotting and braiding techniques. It was then onto colour where Jo O’Neill and Siobhan Golden led the team in showcasing the latest colour techniques devised by the Art Team featuring angles, crescents and panels using a kaleidoscope of shades from deep cherry and acid yellow to pastel peach and steely grey. Men’s then took centre stage with Kevin Luchmun and Charlie Cullen presenting two very different styles in men’s styling with Kevin Luchmun featuring a classic fade style updated with a double disconnection on top juxtaposed against Charlie Cullen’s retro inspired longer men’s style using the fringe as a focal point enhanced with a sleek groomed wave. Indira Schauwecker and Cos Sakkas then led the final cutting section to bring the Pure Education presentation to a close. Featuring signature Toni & Guy cutting techniques, the halo and the angle, cuts enhanced a strong perimeter with soft internal texture again working with each models natural texture for a consumer friendly but fashion forward collection.
