5 reasons salon international is a must-attend event for barbers and mens' hairdressers Early bird tickets are now on sale for Salon International 2019! You might know it as a hairdressing event - but here’s five reasons why Salon International is a must-attend show for barbers and mens’ hairdressers too. (It takes place Saturday 5 - Monday 7 October at ExCeL London, so get it in your diary.)
  1. Education, education, education  What could be better than watching the talent you see on Instagram, live on stage? Over three days the HJ Men stage will feature some big barbering names that will inspire and educate. We can't reveal who just yet (sorry!) but rest assured there will be a mix of industry heavyweights, prominent UK barbershops, as well as rising stars that you can get up close and personal with on the HJ Men stage before, after and during their demonstrations. Bring your phone, record the acts and you've got buckets of educational content you can put to use everyday. Knowledge is power.
  2. Put your skills to the test in a competition The NHF’s national floor competition, Britain’s Best will be taking place in partnership with HJ at Salon International on Sunday 6 October 2019. Stylists and barbers of all levels will compete against the clock to create and perfect a style that will impress an expert panel of judges. NHF Members and non-members can enter now here. Categories of interest to men's hairdressers and barbers include: Afro Stylist of the Year, Barber of the Year and Men’s Cut and Finish. If you're a student, take note of another competition that will be taking place on Monday 7 October. In association with the Hair & Barber Council (sponsored by CHA, GBBA, HJ, Salon and VTCT) the 2019 Student of the Year competition will also take place. To enter you need to be nominated by a lecturer - before the closing date of 31 May. The nominated students will then submit their images, and finalists are announced in September and will compete on the Monday at the show. To find out more info, click here. Finalists will receive a free ticket to Salon International for them and their model on Monday 7 October. As well as being crowned Student Barber of the Year the winner will also receive a day with Mike Taylor.
  3. Barbering brands Take our word for it, there will be big barbering brands exhibiting at Salon International - and a lot of them will be offering limited edition discounts and offers at the show. Here's just a taster of some of the confirmed exhibitors:
    Morgans Pomade
    Dapper Dan
    DNG - Barba Italiana
    Wahl UK ltd
    Booksy Salon Tracker
    British Barbering Association
    Barber Warehouse
    Truss Professional
    Dick Johnson
    Panasonic
    Andis
    The Bluebeards Revenge
    Takara Belmont
  4. Networking! You’ll be surrounded by fellow barbers and mens’ hairdressers at Salon International from both the UK and around the world. You’ll also find the British Barbering Association (BBA) at the show – head to their stand for industry advice and information on how to become a member or BBA-approved business.
  5. Live stages and seminars Although there are no strictly barbering seminars (yet...) there are some seriously cool live shows and seminars taking place at Salon International from industry big names like Sassoon, Trevor Sorbie and Toni & Guy. These are ticketed so head here to see more information.
Early bird tickets are now on sale - but don't dally, the offer runs out 30 May. Click here now to get tickets.
