From stunning natural gorgeousness to experimental creative work, Saco produced a spectrum of beautiful hairdressing married together by their most fundamental philosophy: Beauty First. Hosted by Saco founder Richard Ashforth, supported by a talented team of international educators from France, Denmark, Russia, the Ukraine, the UK, and Saco’s latest academy in Korea, the Saco Salon Live showcased contrasting vibes of the late 1970s and 1980s. Super Nature, which is named after their new superfood haircare and styling range, had nods to the final throes of the disco era, as its glamour slowly merged into a punky new wave vibe. The salon-friendly collection featured a beautiful bob and modern purdy finished with the highest shine. “It’s all about the polish and finish,” explained Betty Christoffersen from the Saco Academy in Denmark. Textured looks embraced the natural curl of the hair, adding short and playful fringes for beautiful focal points and Richard explained. “We believe in respecting the natural fall of the hair. It’s not shapes that we have to work with or big blow dries. It’s all about the natural hair.” Looks were enhanced with a natural palette that emphasised the natural beauty of the shapes for a glossy and sophisticated feel. Analogue was a more experimental collection that was inspired by the raw photography of Derek Ridgers in the clubs and streets of London in the 80s. Shattered fringes and exaggerated texture were given an edge with a powerful palette of copper, dusty pink or dramatic contrasts of neutral tones. Finally, it was over to Richard to showcase his sublime cutting talents as he skilfully transformed a mid-length look into a head-hugging crop with a shattered perimeter. With the transformation complete the models took to the stage to rapturous applause from the audience and it was clear that Saco had once again lived up to their Beauty First Mantra.
