Celebrating 30 Years of Charles Worthington – Legends Lounge
It’s the 30th anniversary year for Charles Worthington and he shared tales and anecdotes from his phenomenal career at his Legends Lounge interview at Salon International.
Charles began by sharing the stories of his beautiful and inviting salons and explained that the Charles Worthington experience is all about creating luxury and making people feel amazing.
In particular, he focused on his New York salon explaining that when it opened he wanted to create a very British experience and took stylists from his London salon to create the right vibe. This made quite an impact that got him spotted by Vogue editor Anna Wintour, led to a spread in the fashion bible and introduced him to the A-List.
Charles soon became synonymous with red carpet hair and his famous pop-up salons were must-have destinations for celebrities to hang out and be pampered ahead of the Oscars and Golden Globes.
He believes that celebrities on red carpets have an appeal that models simply can’t rival because of the wearability of the looks and the fact clients can relate to the styles and the attainable beauty much more.
Speaking about some of his proudest achievements, Charles explained that he is phenomenally proud of winning British Hairdresser of the Year twice and more recently being awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Fellowship for British Hairdressing.
He believes that winning awards is pivotal to success in the industry but explained that you must seize the opportunities they present – ‘if you do something good, shout about it’ he explained.
To finish Charles presented his 30th anniversary collection VIBE an innovative collection that was launched in black and white, with coloured pictures released with the seasons to give longevity to the collection.
