Stand out in your salon with this professional-only amika braiding technique This Amika braiding technique which is being demoed by Amika at Salon International is an ideal addition to your updo service as your clients cannot recreate it at home. Amika's pro educator Jenna Shafer says: "This Amika braiding technique perfect way to elevate your professional service in the salon as it's a simple look to create in the salon but it's not a look a client can recreate on themselves at home. Plus, the Amika braiding technique is not too fussy from the front but has a beautiful detailed back. This means it taps into the continuing 'done - undone' trend." Jenna shares her step by steps for recreating this look: Step 1: Prep the model's hair - you want the hair to be completely detangled.  Step 2: Take a Mohawk section from the front all the way back to the crown and then divide the section into three different parts. Step 3: Take a slice or a small section from the right hand side and the travelling piece is going to move right to the other side and over the middle and underneath the left and wrap it around the left and over the middle.  Step 4: Start with the travelling piece in the middle and move it over with hair on the left side so the travelling piece is moving over the right and you can grab on to it. Now you’re going to add some hair from the right side.  Step 5: Now repeat so it’s going to go over the right, under the left and over the middle and wrap it around, over the left, under the middle. Step 6: Pull it tight, move the outside sections either side and secure the braid with an elastic.  Step 7: Finish the look with a messy chignon along the bottom. Use Amika Undone Volume Texture Spray and then pin it up. To pin it up at the bottom make sure you criss-cross your grips and cover up all of your grips.  Step 8: Finish the look with Amika Headstrong Intense Hairspray.
