Alternative hair appoints martin penny as honorary patron

Alternative Hair has announced Martin Penny, founder of ghd, as their latest honorary patron.

Launched in 1983 by Tony Rizzo, the Alternative Hair Show celebrates creative hairdressing while raising funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Now in its 29th year, the show is one of the most anticipated dates in the hairdressing calendar and is renowned for its theatrical, colourful and creative performances.

Martin says: "I am honoured to be associated with Alternative Hair and its devotion to raising funds for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research. As patron, I plan to add both ideas and support to this hotbed of inspirational global talent."

This year's show will be held at the Royal AlbertHall in London on Sunday 16 October. The evening will also incorporate the Alternative Hair International Visionary Award and play host to the finals of the AIPP Awards.
