Goldwell and kms takeover toronto for global zoom 2018 Last week Toronto played host to the KAO Salon division family as Global zoom 2018 took over the Canadian city. The two day event was attended by the brand’s international cohort as well as trade media. There was over 3000 stylists from around the world in attendance for the event which was a chance for the hairdressers to immerse themselves in the brand’s world. The first day kicked off with Academy Sessions which the brand described as a ‘more hands in education than ever before’. Firstly, the Colorzoom creative team spoke about the Remix collection and the Global Winners from 2017 Mia Sota, Dylan Tung and Maksim Sotnikov, along with Goldwell International Artists Agnes Westerman and Sascha Haseloff, presented the technical insight of the 2019 Color Zoom Collection. Global zoom 2018 jm The Master Design Team presented the most fashion-forward designs from Goldwell’s signature programme, focusing on cut, styling and colour. Global Cutting Ambassador Jay Mahmood and the team showcased haircuts from the Master Stylist Programme alongside Rodica Hristu who’s colour expertise brought to life the Master Colorist Programme. The KMS Style Council then gave the audience with initial insights about STYLECOLOR. Across the two days, the team showcased a variety of cuts and styles with amazing STYLECOLOR effects to enhance the looks. To end the day the @Pure Pigments duo, Rebecca Hiele and Lindie Blackwell, presented how to use and showcase the beauty of the colour range. They presented models using customised colours and showed how @Pure Pigments can be used within the daily salon routine. Global zoom 2018 GB Then came the main event. This year, the participants were asked to interpreted the ELEMENTAL Collection and on the night 79 national finalists from 33 different countries competed live and simultaneously. After networking at the Oribe Cocktail Party where guests could learn more about the newest Kao Salon Division Brand the Gala Show began. Over 3,000 hairdressers also got to discover the new 2019 Color Zoom Collection: Remix – a mix of retro pop with quirky punk elements. The Gala concluded with the announcement of the Global Zoom winners: New Talent category: Nushka Barbosa, Netherlands Creative category: Roos Topley, Netherlands Partner category: Lieke Nijenkamp, Netherlands Again Lieke Nijenkamp from the Netherlands (Partner category) won the Stylists’ Favourite Award, together with Nushka Barbosa from the Netherlands (New Talent category) and Pedro Alvarez from Mexico (Creative category). “Hairdressers from all around the world enjoyed the Global Zoom Event in Toronto, a city which never sleeps. We had two incredible and inspirational days with more educational content than ever before. This year we were delighted to welcome Oribe Hair Care to the global family of Kao Salon Division and we had the great chance to give our Global Zoom attendees a “sneak peek” into the world of Oribe," said John Moroney, vice president of education and global creative director of Kao Salon Division This year two winners were announced in the Hall of Fame: Neil Barton from the UK and Rodica Hristu from Canada - both for their dedication and mentorship of Color Zoom teams throughout the last decade.
