Everyman barbers opens in historic derby A new modern barbershop has opened in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter. Everyman Barbers have invested around £150,000 in their store on Sadler Gate, which boasts eight leather barbers’ chairs, free beer, gaming stations, rolling live sports and a large comfortable waiting area. The launch day on 9 March was celebrated in style as customers were offered a range of whiskies, champagne, cold beers — and live jazz and blues from a talented double bass player. Managing director Noel Gilronan said: “Derby was crying out for a modern barbers that offers men more than just a haircut,” The unit now occupied by Everyman Barbers was part of a scheme run by Derby County Council and Historic England that has aimed to regenerate a number of vacant Victorian buildings in an area of the city decimated by recession. “Local heritage is important and we’re glad to be part of the a scheme that shows people care about the city,” Gilronan adds. Everyman Barbers currently have shops in Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham, and Derby with a Leicester store opening on March 30th.
