Which hairdresser won international hairdresser of the year? TONI&GUY international artistic director and head of education, Cos Sakkas headed to Madrid to accept his International Hairdresser of the Year award in front of an esteemed audience of international hairdressers. Cos won the title after being nominated in the International Hairdressing Awards earlier this year, and travelled to the Italian city for the glittering final. Cos, who was the only British hairdresser to be nominated for this year’s title, was chosen by a panel of judges from around the world. Other nominees included Jamie Furlan from Australia and Jose Garcia from Spain. The winners of the awards were announced at the purple carpet event, which also saw stunning catwalk presentations from teams around the world. Cos said: "It was a true honour to be nominated and to win International Hairdresser of the Year, to be recognised for the work I do with our teams around the globe and for my latest collection, Craftwork. Every award is a highlight in my career but to come to Madrid to see everyone has been really special." On his collection, Cos said: “My collection showcases a multitude of textures – from bold to handcrafted – and I used a myriad of techniques to manipulate the hair. 3D printing, braiding and graphic, precision cutting with juxtaposed colour, I wanted to demonstrate that a style can be worn by anyone, at anytime, anywhere.”

The International Hairdressing Awards

The International Hairdressing Awards are an independent beauty organisation, powered by hairdressers, that has been supported since its inception by a main sponsor of international relevance who believe in the message and mission of these awards: Revlon Professional. Beauty Underground, Salon Look Madrid-Ifema and Hair MBA act as sponsors and Estetica Magazine as global media partner, with 24 editions worldwide.
