This is Definitely the Most Christmassy Christmas Hair Trend to Ever Be
You may already be at the stage of the year when you hear the words ‘party hair’ you roll your eyes, but we might have found the most party like Christmas hair trend ever – tinsel hair.
This style is straight out of the 1990s like most hair trends we saw this year. Luckily it’s an easy addition to your Christmas services if you want a little edge amongst the braids and blow-dries.
Hairstylist Giovanni Delgado recently created a shimmering high tinsel ponytail on musician Kacey Musgaves for her Stateside tour.
Tinsel Hair – A Salon Service?
Don’t think that you’ll be able to get your clientele involved in this sparkly hair trend? Think again. We spoke to Dylan Brittain, co-owner of Rainbow Room International and Schwarzkopf UK brand ambassador for his thoughts on the trend. “This style is something different for the party season and is one clients don’t have to commit to,” says Dylan.

How to Apply Tinsel Hair
The easiest way to add tinsel to hair is applying to wefted clip-in extensions with glue or in a ponytail like Giovanni did with Kacey’s hair. If you’re a keen braider then you could weave into festive braids you have on your braid bar menu.
Can Anyone Have Tinsel Hair?
In short, yes anyone can, but because of the texture of the tinsel it looks best with straighten hair. “This look works best on super sleek, straight hair. It adds a slight definition to the hair and added edge without client having to go through a drastic colour change,” comments Dylan.
In terms of colour Dylan thinks that certain colours blend and work better with different colours of tinsel. “Glitter gold and rose gold look sensational embedded in brunette locks and honey hues, whereas silver and baby pink sparkles suit platinum blondes best,” he says.
