BAFTAs 2021 hair looks

The BAFTAs 2021 took place over the weekend of 10 and 11 April 2021 and awarded the best films, actors and actresses, however it was the hair looks that really caught HJ’s eye.

Here’s HJ’s lowdown of the standout hair looks from the BAFTAs 2021 that will help your clients get excited for the special occasions, weddings and parties they will hopefully be able to book into their diaries later this year.

The Standout Hair Looks at the BAFTAs 2021

Vanessa Kirby’s sleeked back chignon

Actress Vanessa Kirby who is arguably best known for her role as Princess Margaret in Netflix series The Crown sported a classy and timeless sleeked back chignon. The look was created by hairstylist Halley Brisker using the BaByliss PRO 9000 Cordless.

Halley Brisker told HJ exclusively: “This look for Vanessa was about having something that was timeless and elegant with quality execution. It’s always about elevation for me even within the finer details. In a way there are elements of this look that are very relevant right now in terms of its vibe if it were paired with an outfit for the pub garden let’s say and thats where it transitions across to something clients and their stylists can experiment with in the salon this summer!”

Bukky Bakray’s striking top knot

Not only did Bukky Bakray win the award for EE Rising Star at the BAFTAs 2021 but she shone like a  star too with her Prada custom  strapless gown and gorgeous top knot created by hairstylist Dionne Smith.

Dionne created the top knot for Bukky using DE HCO blow dry lotion spray and using her signature midi hair straighteners to press her hair out and swipe it up into a ponytail to create the top knot. She used Cantu Edge Control on her edges and finished with Cantu Sheen Spray.

Dionne told HJ exclusively:

I love the top knot because it’s one of those looks that can be dressed up or down so casual or glamorous for an evening out. It’s a minimalistic look but very effective and it doesn’t take long for a stylist to do for a client either.

Renée Zellweger’s tousled bob

Renée Zellweger who is best known for her role as Bridget Jones in Bridget Jones’ Diary is always one to watch at awards and events for her elegant style and stunning hair looks. Her BAFTAs 2021 hair look was no exception – the tousled bob with a side fringe looks effortless. It is an extremely wearable and versatile look for clients with shorter hair who might want to leave the salon looking glam for a visit to the shops – – or for a prestigious and classy event such as the BAFTAs 2021.

Cynthia Erivo’s silver/grey buzz cut

Actress Cynthia Erivo who is known for roles in Bad Times at the El Royale and Widows presented an award at the BAFTAs 2021 sporting this incredibly cool silver/grey buzz cut style. The hair colour is bang on trend as Pantone’s Color of the Year is grey this year. The buzz cut is low maintenance for her on a day to day basis, but the benefit for clients who want to replicate this look is it will be high maintenance in the sense it will keep your clients coming back to you regularly to maintain it.
