Andrew Smith, salons and global ambassador of z.one concept, on Addison Rae

“I absolutely love the overall look from Addison Rae who opted for very loose, relaxed waves.” [caption id="attachment_86896" align="alignnone" width="813"]Addison Rae Grammys 2022 Addison Rae opted for loose, relaxed waves[/caption]

“Prep the hair using volumising shampoo and conditioner to add a little oomph. Next, use salt spray to add some much-needed texture. Dry the hair into a relatively straight style, focusing on achieving shine and no frizz. Next, take a medium size barrel tong and very lightly, tong the hair from the mid-section to the ends. Once cool, brush through.”

Philip Bell, partner at Ishoka Hair and Beauty, on Hailey Bieber

“Hailey Bieber looked absolutely incredible wearing a relaxed, loose single braid with fly away sections towards the front of the face.” [caption id="attachment_86899" align="alignnone" width="936"]Hailey Bieber Grammys 2022 Hailey Bieber opted for a relaxed, loose single braid[/caption]

“Shine is the most important aspect along with frizz free styling. Prep the hair with moisture shampoo and conditioner – this injects key nutrients back into the hair and creates a healthy base. Next, blow-dry the hair straight, focusing on closing the follicles to encourage a smooth, frizz free surface and a gorgeous shine. Next, loosely brush the hair to the nape of the neck and section into three equal sections and begin braiding. Make sure to keep this as relaxed as possible, and secure with a thread. Lightly loosen some small strands at the front and finish with shine spray.”

Jay Birmingham, celebrity hairdresser, on Chrissy Teigen

“Chrissy Teigen stole the show on the red carpet. Her hair was tied into a modern, undone bun with a defined centre parting, subtle flyaways from her face and just the right amount of texture.” [caption id="attachment_86897" align="alignnone" width="814"]Chrissy Teigen Grammys 2022 Chrissy Teigen opted for a modern, undone bun with a centre parting[/caption]

“To create this look, volumising and texturising sprays are your best friend. Pull hair back from just about the ears towards the crown of the hair and bring the undersection of the hair up to meet this before tying into a ponytail. Create your defined parting with the end of a comb and gently pull pieces of hair loose around the face. Either wrap the hair around the tie or braid loosely before tying round. Use your fingers to manipulate the hair from the scalp to loosen and create texture. Finish with a mist of long-lasting hair spray or texturising mist.”

Jared Henderson, JOICO celebrity hairstylist, on Doja Cat:

“Doja represented the nineties perfectly with this nostalgic style. Showcasing baby-bangs, face framing tendrils and spiky Bantu knots.” [caption id="attachment_86898" align="alignnone" width="816"]Doja Cat Grammys 2022 Doja Cat opted for baby-bangs, face framing tendrils and spiky Bantu knots[/caption]

“To create this look, I prepped Doja’s blonde wig using the JOICO Color Balance Purple Shampoo and conditioned it before blow drying. I used the GHD Helios dryer to dry the hair super straight and give a good base. After sectioning the hair from temple to temple, I twisted in some JoiGel Firm Styling Gel to create the Bantu knots and spiky ends.”

Brian Leo McCallum, owner of ROAR Hair and Beauty, on Saweetie

“Saweetie dazzled with super short platinum hair. Saweetie’s hair style was all about the colour with a platinum blonde hue.” [caption id="attachment_86901" align="alignnone" width="816"]Saweetie Grammys 2022 Saweetie opted for super short platinum hair[/caption]

“The key for this look is ensuring the colour is clean and well balanced to avoid any unwanted warmth. The colour needs to be on point as it’s the star of the show when paired with subtle styling. To maintain colour like this, we recommend the Goldwell Dual Senses Colour Shampoo and Conditioner. A violet toned shampoo can be washed through the hair every two-three washes to cleanse the blonde and refresh the platinum finish.”

Simon Hill, owner of SESH Hairdressing, on Olivia Rodrigo:

“Playful yet elegant, wearing nineties inspired chokers with an off the shoulder dress, Olivia Rodrigo’s hair was paired back and complemented her ensemble perfectly.” [caption id="attachment_86900" align="alignnone" width="814"]Olivia Rodrigo Grammys 2022 Olivia Rodrigo opted for the paired back look[/caption]

“Preparation is paramount. Use a nourishing mask to condition the hair and reduce frizz. Ensure you apply heat from the dryer using a nozzle and downward action to smooth the cuticle of the hair fully before adding in subtle waves around the face. Style the hair away from the face to create the shape and add volume. Finish with a shine spray.” Want to see more? See how the Grammys 2022 hair looks compared with some of the best of 2021 here.
