James forte looks back on 2021's bhas

We brought the BHA's back with a bang in November 2021 - and it wasn't just a night of magic for the winners and nominees. With the event being a first for many hairdressers, James Forte takes a look at his first BHA experience with Denman UK. After taking the title of Denman Stage Star Winner at Salon International 2021, James Forte kicked off his victory as Denman’s VIP guest at the British Hairdressing Awards, sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional. Stage Star is Denman’s annual competition to encourage emerging talent and every winner is treated to a whole year of education, events, press activity, photographic shoots and guest experiences. On his evening, James noted that he had the most amazing night with VIP access to the BHA Finalists and Winners. “Denman’s table was so close to the stage and I had a fantastic view of every stage presentation plus I was up close to the action when the Winner’s took their trophies. It was an incredible atmosphere and the room was buzzing. Being Denman’s guest was just an amazing feeling! I had VIP access and a drink in my hand all night and the team at Denman made me feel SO welcome. Attending the BHA’s for the first time was not only eye-opening but also gave me even more motivation to aspire to be one of the winners," said James. With an event full of the industry's top hairdressers, James got a true experience of meeting his idols. He commented: "The person I was most looking forward to meeting was Sylvestre Finold. I love how intricate his Avant-Garde work is; he is a real pioneer in the industry and to top it all off, it was the year we got to see him inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Avant-Garde category.” Seeing hair professionals such as Caroline Sanders, Barry Lachlan and Sharon Malcolm take home multiple trophies was completely inspiring for James.
