Hairdressing Educational Courses Calendar – July and August
From wig making courses to bridal hair how-tos and fashion trend seminars to courses about fades, there are a wealth of options to expand your hairdressing knowledge. Here is HJ’s calendar of upcoming courses and events in 2018. First up, this is what’s coming up in July and August.
What: Electric Sessions
Where: Electric’s Brighton studio
When: 1 July, 17 September and 19 November.
More info: This evening event gathers stylists from across all six Electric salons, plus stylists from Electric salon stockists. The sessions keep stylists up-to-date with trends, shows and innovative ways to use the brand’s products and learn the techniques the Electric Art Team have created. Electric regularly invites outside guest presenters to host evenings and non-Electric hairdressers are also welcome.

What: Toni & Guy Fashion Fix
Where: Toni & Guy Academies in London, Manchester and Edinburgh
When: 2-3 July
More info: Learn different techniques from Toni & Guy’s International Artistic Team and bring catwalk hair to your salon. Master everything from intricate braiding techniques, variations on up-dos and hair accessory placement, all derived from London Fashion Week.

What: Welcome to the Creative World of ProStyles
Where: ProStyles Training Facility in Hertfordshire

More info: This event is an introduction to ProStyles covering the brand’s hair, methods and training. ProStyles is the only extensions brand to offer a City & Guilds qualification as part of its training. The session is free, but booking is necessary.

What: BaByliss PRO Backstage Story
Where: London Leeds
When: 2 July in London and 4 July in Leeds
More info: This hands-on three-hour workshop will give attendees an insight into the session world. Leading stylists Sam Burnett and Ben Hards who work backstage at fashion week will share their tips, techniques and creativity. You will explore two catwalk looks and master the essential skills.

What: L’Oréal Professionnel Classic French Balayage
Where: Multiple locations, including Belfast at the Andrew Mulvenna Salon
When: 6 August and 5 November in Belfast
More info: Now one of the most requested colour techniques in the world, balayage comes in many different variants. This course was inspired by a French hairdresser who shared the classic technique with L’Oréal Professionnel. The course runs throughout the year at different venues and dates across the UK.

What: Sassoon 16-Week Postgraduate Course
Where: London Sassoon Academy
When: Starts 20 August
More info: Perfect for newly qualified students or those eager to extend their learning, this 16-week course covers modern hair techniques and immerses attendees in the abc series and contemporary work of Sassoon. The course is divided into three levels, which gives you the opportunity to attend the Sassoon Advanced Academy course for one week and provides all of the prep you need to complete a photo shoot at the end.
