Gender neutral pricing introduced in soho salon, the lounge

Gender neutral pricing introduced in soho salon, the lounge Soho-based salon, The Lounge, has launched its brand-new gender-neutral pricing list. The Lounge Soho, owned by session stylist Joe Mills, now prices services based on hair length, rather than gender. The salon now charges based on three structures – Short Hair, being above jaw length; Mid Length, for hair below the jawline but above the collarbone; and Long Length, for those with hair past their collarbone. Owner and session stylist Joe Mills, says: “It is something we have been offering for quite a while, but it was time we made our gender-neutral pricing official. We have a real cross-section of clients coming into our salon and it makes sense to offer services based on hair length. It also means all our clients are paying for the time, expertise, and professionalism of our stylists regardless of their gender. Removing the traditional male and female service charging structure completely is part of the salon’s new direction, after recently undergoing a whole new look due to a severe flood during lockdown. “Our stylists are incredible at short hair as well as long hair and have been trained in all forms of hair cutting, so updating our service menu made sense,” continued Joe. The Lounge Soho is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, with the new look featuring comfy seating, a muted colour palette and a home-away-from-home feel. The boutique salon aims to make clients feel comfortable and well looked after, with their new pricing structure going hand in hand with this ethos.
