Headmasters Art Team member and L'Oréal ID Artist Alfie Pfeffer started hairdressing in 2006. Now focusing on his colour work, we caught up with him to find out how he's carved out his perfect career path in such a diverse industry.

How and why did you get into hairdressing?

From a very young age I remember being fascinated with hair and the unique way that it moves. I loved the idea of working in an industry which would allow me to have true creative freedom and a lot of fun along the way.

Can you give a brief history of your career to date?

I am a Headmasters Pro-Artistic team member, Senior Academy Colour Educator and a L'Oréal ID Artist. In terms of competitions I love to take part in as many as I can and listinsg to date include L'Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Finalist, 2016 F.A.M.E Team Finalist and Headmasters Colour Heroes winner.

Can you talk about your career highlights?

Wining a place on the L'Oréal ID Team has been a massive career highlight, being part of a team of like minded, creative individuals is invaluable to me.

Education is key for me and showcasing my work at major hairdressing events is a real passion of mine. Salon International is one of my favourite times of year and you can regularly catch me there on stage doing what I love.

You are really keen to push your colour career, can you explain the process in which you have developed yourself and your career and any goals you have  for the future?

I'm a seriously passionate colour technician and I dedicate all my time to playing with hair and coming up with new techniques, I believe you never stop learning. I was part of the Fellowship Colour Project in 2015 which gave me the opportunity to learn alongside some of the best colourists in the industry. This then gave me the motivation and inspiration to push my own career forward.

What advice would you have for stylists trying to push themselves and their career path to the next level?

2017 is an amazing year to be a colour technician and with new products coming on the market every minute, it's up to us to get inventive. Creative colour is becoming more mainstream so push the boundaries and get yourself noticed by being original! You can often find me in craft shops and hardware stores finding new tools to help me create my work and set me apart from the rest. Instagram is a brilliant visual platform for any colour technician to get their work seen, you can follow me @AlfieHair.
