Asp announces newest global ambassador ASP is delighted to announce that Terri Nadin, previously second generation ASP colour rebel, has been officially promoted to ASP global ambassador, where she will work alongside the brand's wider ambassador team headed up by ASP's global ambassador Tracey Devine-Smith. Terri will continue to support ASP's education proposition as their ‘in-house balayage specialist'. In celebration of this, we are excited to share some comments from Terri below, which should help ramp up your balayage gae!

Tell us about your journey to becoming a balayage specialist?

One thing I’ve learnt from being a salon owner for over twelve years, is that it’s crucial to stay ahead of hair trends. When balayage first burst onto the scene around ten years ago, clients fell in love, hard and fast. It’s remained that way ever since, with floods of clients continuing to share balayage inspiration images they've found online every day.
Ultimately, when you’re the owner of a salon, you need to lead your team – so on reflection I immersed myself in all things balayage and concentrated on becoming a master at it, in order to teach my team. As well as falling in love with the results on my clients, I also really enjoy the freehand aspect of balayage. I find I get to be more creative.

When it comes to balayage, what are the mistakes people can make?

I think that us hairdressers are often programmed to be people pleasers, and this can often tempt us into putting lots of colour into the hair to give the client full value. When actually, less is more when it comes to achieving the perfect balayage.

What is the secret to the perfect balayage?

The way to go when creating the perfect balayage is carefully considering which lightening products you are using, in order to achieve the right consistency and saturation. For me, without the ASP Ultra Lifting 9 Level System Blonde Lightener and ASP Colour Your Way Powder, I wouldn’t get the same results.

What are your favourite balayage colour trends for 2022?

I think we are going to see a shift from high contrast balayage with strong face frames to a more blended, seamless look, which will in-turn give the hair that 'expensive-looking' feel customers are always striving for.

What is your go-to ASP products or tools for achieving the perfect balayage?

As well as the ASP Ultra Lifting 9 Level System Blonde Lightener and Colour Your Way Powder, my other go-to product is VITAPLEX, without a doubt. VITAPLEX is a  three-part biomimetic system which  protects the hair during the chemical process, minimising breakage and reducing cuticle damage & improving elasticity. Say hello to healthy, glossy three-dimensional colour!
