HJ’s 10 Most Popular Instagram Posts of 2021
Here at HJ, we love to share as much of your incredible work as possible, especially across our social media pages such as Instagram. 2021 has been a year of unbridled creativity within the world of hair and, despite still facing a number of restrictions and challenges, has been a showcase for the importance of resilience and imagination, so it’s more important than ever to celebrate this.
From avant-garde shoots to small-scale salon creations, our Instagram grid is a place which aims to proudly represent all aspects of the hair world. We’ve run the numbers to find out the posts our followers have loved the most this year and compiled the top 10 below – enjoy! (And while you’re at it, don’t forget to drop us a follow!)
10. Angelo Seminara
This striking and vibrant shot from Angelo Seminara caught a lot of our followers attention due to its incredible use of colour, texture and the twist on a classic ponytail.
One of our favourite picks from your #HJColourReel submissions this year! We love the subtle shades of neon green in the fringe.
8. Robbie Purves
Robbie Purves from Sonte Hair shared this throwback shot earlier this year and proved it’s timelessness with a whole load of fresh likes!
7. Nikita Fisher
Taken from a collection Nikita shared this year (which we starred as our favourite of the week). You can find it by searching Nikita’s name in our gallery.
6. James Earnshaw
Sharing the incredible work of James Earnshaw – both editorial and in-salon – became one of our favourite things to do this year, and it seems like you guys appreciated it too!
5. Emma Simmons, Jonathan Turner & Matthew-Anthony Whiting
We offered up sneak previews of all finalist collections for this year’s #BHA21 (sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional) and our followers particularly loved this North Eastern selection. Congratulations to Jonathan who went on to take home the prize!
4. Charlie Miller Salons
We have to agree with our followers on this one – the colours and cut are definitely worth a special shoutout! Courtesy of the award-winning Edinburgh-based Charlie Miller Salons Group.
3. Sharon Malcolm
It’s probably no surprise our Trend Image of the Year winner at #BHA21 (sponsored by Schwarzkopf Professional) got so many likes when we reshared it following Sharon’s well-deserved victory. What an image!
2. Kerrie DiMattia
These beautiful, long blonde waves made a huge splash on our feed this year and it’s not difficult to see why. This incredible feat of hair is the achievement of Kerrie DiMattia.
1. Hair Co-Operative Art Team (Darrel Starkey, Safy Burton & Nicola Kristel)
Coming together like the Avengers of hair, this collaborative effort from some of the brightest young stars in the industry took the hearts (and likes) of our followers, proving that teamwork is often the key. Congratulations to the Hair Co-Operative Art Team!
