Ruffians barbers covent garden: interiors inspiration Ruffians Barbers Covent Garden: Interiors Inspiration Ruffians Barbers Covent Garden is the second outpost of the Scottish gentlemen's grooming destination, which launched in Edinburgh in 2012. The masculine yet refined design, created by Graven Images, has similarities to the salon’s first award-winning branch, but incorporates features unique to the site in London's Maiden Lane. Recognisable staples of the Ruffians identity include a communal cutting desk and traditional barber chairs by Takara Belmont re-upholstered in Ruffians Petroleum Blue leather. Comprising three distinct sections, the salon has been designed to offer a seamless and unfolding journey as guests arrive. Starting at the Ruffians shop and reception, customers are greeted in a retail space displaying the barber shop’s own range of haircare products and clothes. The café-style waiting area has two key features: a wood-burning fireplace with wingback chairs and iPads and a whisky/artisan coffee bar, which offers an evolving menu of beverages. The salon's own scent, with woodland and leather notes, is used as an atomiser throughout. The wash and cut area sits at the rear of the salon with two bespoke solid oak cutting tables made by Scottish carpenters to resemble craftsman workbenches. Each of the eight work stations is equipped with a Belfast sink, so hair can be washed and cut in the same place. These also come with old school desk-style lids, which reveal mirrors when opened and cover the sinks when closed to create a smooth, dual-purpose surface for events. Glasgow-based Graven Images, who headed up the design, have 30 years of experience with clients including British Airways, Radisson Blu and Hotel Missoni - making them the ideal partners for a welcoming, inspiring and enticing salon space.
