While old Hollywood icons like Rita Hayworth, Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable constantly serve as inspiration and leading ladies like Marion Cotillard, Angelina Jolie and Diane Kruger constantly reinvent themselves on the red carpet, it's also important to keep one eye on the new breed of starlets shaking things up on the silverscreen.

Here are some of our favourite leading ladies that have lit up the red carpet in 2012...

Felicity Jones
"Felicity epitomises the modern woman with her cool blend of pure femininity and splash of rock chic edge. Her style is classic and simple but with a bit of a twist, and also displays gorgeous hints of Parisian women from the 1950s. The rich tone of burnt sienna and the flattering length and fringe, keep Felicity a fashion leader."

Lea Seydoux
"The colour is lovely; so soft and shimmery with blonde through the darker tones for a naturally glamorous feel. Her hair looks so touchable and the honey glow works to her advantage especially with the style as it's so classic, voluptuous and seductive! The twist away from her face is all it needs to open up the style and let the long sweeping fringe be a feature. This is definitely a head turner for the winter and Lea has got it perfected to a tee!"

Juno Temple
"The topknot continues to be popular on both the high street and the Spring/Summer 2013 catwalks, as well as remaining a favourite for celebrities on the red carpet. The great thing about this style is its versatility; it can either be worn smooth and sleek as seen here by Juno, or looser with texture for a more undone, softer feel."
Kathryn Dartnell, Haringtons Hairdressing, London

Zoë Kravitz
"I love Zoë's short edgy style; it beautifully frames her face, displaying her enviable bone structure perfectly. The use of soft disconnected layering through the fringe prevents this pixie crop from looking severe, and the warm chocolate hue of her highlights flatters her skin tone and adds radiance to her complexion."
Alexander Turnbull, Alexander Hair and Beauty, Anlaby, Hull
