How to create a halo of curls using stylers The ghd Midnight Collection is twelve professional looks all inspired by the Autumn/Winter 2010 catwalk shows and created using the new ghd Gold Classic styler. Here is how you can create a halo of loose curls using your stylers. Click on the image to see the full-size version.
Step One Step Two
Step One: Take a triangular section from crown to temples, then two vertical partings from the crown down towards the ears. From the nape, take a 2cm-deep horizontal section then take a 2cm-square sub section. Place the styler horizontally at the root with your thumb underneath. Rotate 180 degrees towards the head, then slowly glide from roots to ends. Step Two: Wrap the curl back towards the head and secure with a clip. Continue to complete the first section and then repeat the process working upwards in horizontal sections to complete to the crown.
Step Three Step Four
Step Three: Starting from the front left-hand section, take a diagonal 2cm-deep section above the ear. With your tail comb weave the section in half and clip away the top half. With the bottom half, place the styler diagonally in at the roots with your thumb on top, rotate 180 degrees and slowly glide out from roots to ends pushing the styler to the right. Step Four: Repeat on the other half of the weave, this time pushing the styler to the left. Wrap the curls backwards towards the head and secure with a clip. Repeat the process to complete the first section and continue upwards to complete the left-hand side section. Now repeat steps three and four on the right-hand side section.
Step Five Step Six
Step Five: Working on the top triangular section from the crown, take a horizontal 2cm-deep section. Then take a 2cm-square sub section, place the styler in at the roots with your thumb on top, rotate 180 degrees then push the styler slowly away, over directing up and out to the side to give a square/wide shape to the final result. Repeat to complete the section. Step Six: Working forwards, repeat the process but change the direction of the styler to rotate and glide out to the right. Repeat steps five and six to complete the preparation.
Step Seven Step Eight
Step Seven: Unpin all the curls, loosen them with your fingers then take a horizontal section at the nape, approximately 3cm deep, and clip away all remaining hair. Step Eight: Starting at the back left, take a small section, hold the hair at the very ends securely and gently tease and push the hair upwards to the nape. This will create a rouching effect to the hair and reduce the length but keep the curl definition.
Step Nine Step Ten
Step Nine: Continue working in horizontal sections, upwards towards the crown, creating the desired overall shape to the back. Step Ten: Working on the front left section, follow the rouching technique to reduce the length of the hair while keeping curl definition, connecting the shape of the sides to the back panel. Continue this process working in horizontal sections up to the temple, then repeat on the right-hand side.
Step Eleven Step Twelve
Step Eleven: Working with the remaining hair to the sides, take small sections and sculpt using your fingers, laying the curls on top of the rouched hair. Step Twelve: Use a combination of the rouching technique and finger sculpting to personalise and complete the look.
