For the Topshop SS18 show lead stylist Duffy brought out the ‘lazy wave’.
Duffy referenced classic Versace campaigns to create a strong, empowered look for next season.
To create he prepped the hair texture with a mixture of Tecni.ART Pli and Tecni.ART Wild Stylers Beach Waves, and then blasted it dry before creating a strong, low and masculine side parting.
Duffy then smoothed down one side towards the back of the head using a light misting of Infinium Hairspray to show off the models' cheekbones. Taking a small section of hair from the nape on the same side, he then secured it into a tight ponytail and covered it with the free lengths to ensure it remained invisible.
“The idea of the hidden ponytail is to remove the weight of hair on one side. The result is a look that’s super tight on one side – and super sexy on the other,” said Duffy.
Using a one-inch curling iron, he worked around the head section-by-section, to create relaxed, lazy waves. The key to the wave technique was tonging the hair in alternate directions as you move down the hair shaft. Once tonged, a tiny amount of Mythic Oil dragged through the hair added to the lived-in, “sweaty” feel and finished this modern take on the traditional summer wave. Lived in, lazy and effortlessly cool.
