Lfw trend report: raw texture at sophia webster with kms california
Sam Burnett at Sophia Webster Sam Burnett created raw texture with 70's inspired shapes to create a Tim Burton inspired, fantastical look for the AW16 Sophia Webster presentation at LFW this week. Sam said, “The Sophia Webster show has taken inspiration from Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, so I have stayed on this contemporary gothic route and drawn texture inspiration from Edward Scissorhands. I have gone for a 70’s shape for the hair with exaggerated height at the crown, but left the texture looking very raw. To create this unstructured look, I worked with a razor to dismantle the fringes which, unlike the rest of the hair has a high-shine finish, whilst the internal shape is more rough and unpolished.” Get the Look 1. Start by prepping the hair with KMS California Hairplay Sea Salt Spray and either blow drying in or leaving to set naturally depending on the movement in the hair 2. Add in a fringe hair piece on the top of the head and razor cut the edges to create a deconstructed finish and remove weight from the hair 3. Using scissors add chunky detail to the fringe creating different shapes to suit the individual face shape & bone structure 4. Style the fringe by adding in KMS California Addvolume Volumizing Spray and liberally apply KMS California Hairstay Styling Gel straight over the top. Dry in the product with a hairdryer, diffuser attached 5. Next, sporadically crimp the roots, mid lengths and ends of the hair 6. Blast the hair with KMS California Hairplay Playable Texture to bulk the hair out and create more of a raw texture 7. Tease the roots with your fingers, twist the hair round and pin in places sporadically to create a shorter look at the front and a heavier height around the crown. 8. Finish the look by securing with KMS California Hairstay Maximum Hold Spray, using a hairdryer to direct the spray onto the hair to mould the shape and keep it secure
