The looks from the latest fashion in motion at the v&a with l'oréal professionnel

V&A Fashion in Motion presented Mexican fashion designer and social entrepreneur Carla Fernandez with hair by Johanna Cree-Brown from Trevor Sorbie for L'Oréal Professionnel last week. The Fashion in Motion event coincided with the exhibition Frieda Kahlo: Making Herself Up. Fernandez’s Manifesto of Fashion as Resistance was performed by a live chorus, with a catwalk presentation of pieces from five collections. The pieces highlight the designer’s commitment to decolonisation, intersectionality and social justice.
L’Oréal Professionnel has worked closely with the Fashion in Motion events since their inception and arranges the hair teams to style the hair for the shows. Johanna Cree-Brown and the Trevor Sorbie team created the hair looks for this stunning show. The hair was styled with centre partings and a mix of long and woven braids. There were five hair looks that matched five different sections of the show. Click through the gallery above to see all five looks and how to re-create them using L'Oréal Professionnel products.
The fashion designer Carla Fernandez works at the forefront of ethical fashion, documenting and preserving the rich textile heritage of Mexico’s indigenous communities, while simultaneously making it avant- garde. She works in tandem with artisans using age-old techniques and processes, and her designs present a departure from western fashion. She travels extensively throughout Mexico and works closely with hand spinners, weavers, embroiderers and garment makers to document their craft. Working collaboratively, they adapt and transform their processes to make striking clothes.
The V&A’s Fashion in Motion series brings catwalk shows by some of the greatest designers of our time to the V&A and makes catwalk couture accessible to a wider audience, modelling it against the beautiful backdrop of the museum and supported by L'Oréal Professionnel. Previous designers in the series have included Christian Lacroix, Hardy Amies, Jean Paul Gaultier, Missoni, Stephane Rolland, Anne Valerie Hash, Swarovski, Gianfranco Ferre, Vivienne Westwood, Eley Kishimoto, Roksanda Illincic, Gareth, Erdem and Molly Goddard.
