Eugene souleiman wows with hairdressing live takeover There are few people in the hairdressing world that can hold an audience of legends for a day of back to back hair demonstrations, but that's exactly what Eugene Souleiman did for his long-awaited Hairdressing Live tutorial series. More like a peek at how the hairdressing luminary's mind works than a traditional step by step to recreate the looks, Eugene took viewers on a journey through his work, his life, influences and ethos for hair creation. The who's who of the hairdressing world joined Eugene for the day in the studio including his former boss Trevor Sorbie and big hairdressing names like Angelo Seminara, Tim Hartley, Anthony Mascolo, Nick Irwin, Cos Sakkas, Indira Schauwecker, Tom Connell and more. The intimate group sat through seven awe-inspiring looks as Eugene created them live, with assistance from Pablo Kuemin, and talked the audience through them. As he spoke, an additional audience from 45 different countries were watching as the session was streamed through Hairdressing Live an online hairdressing education platform created by Paul Davey of Davey Davey. eugene souleiman hairdressing liveAs a session stylist Eugene spoke about the process of developing the hair idea with the designer and how it changes for each brand, from Galliano's maximalism to the parred back hair at Calvin Klein. But if you go somewhere seeking inspiration you are aren't going to find what you are looking for, "You're missing the point if you have to go somewhere for inspiration," Eugene told the audience. "Inspiration is everywhere. It could be a blade of grass or the way someone's hair moves in the wind. Keep your eyes open," he advised. But what does the man himself find most inspiring? As he listed classic influential rockers and jazz stars he joked, "I have a lot of musical references, I'm a bit of a nerd." While he worked through the intricate and extravagant looks, he wanted to stress the significance of learning the hairdressing fundamentals. In the way that many say you have to learn the rules in order to break them, it seems this is the philosophy that Eugene applies to his awe-inspiring looks, "I can't stress enough how important it is to learn the basics of hairdressing," he said. The man who taught him many of those skills, Trevor Sorbie, sat front row of the session, proud. As Eugene styled centre stage Trevor said, " I moved heaven and earth to be here today and I wouldn't have missed it for the world." He continued, "It takes guts to do this in front of these industry people and 45 countries – I  couldn't have done it.
