In this collection Avant Garde Hairdresser of the year finalist, Joanne O'Neill, took inspiration from the work of legendary artists. She explains: “I was inspired by the masters of art in the style of Chiaroscuro portraits made famous by Leonardo da Vinci and Caravaggio. Leonardo used the style to give a vivid impression to the three-dimensionality of his figures, while Caravaggio used it for contrasts." She adds: "The Italian term means light-dark, referring to clear, tonal contrasts in the subject. With my collection, I wanted the contrasts to be between the background, the hair and the clothes. The models took on an angelic feeling, with delicate lace and fabrics contrasting with the stronger shapes in the hair. Avant-garde hair should be beautiful and mesmerising and I believe my Muse collection is just that.” Click 'View Gallery' to see the collection in full.
